Youth Without Youth doesn’t make a lot of sense in spite of Francis Ford Coppola’s reputation and distinctive direction. He uses a Romanian novel for his subject matter but doesn’t clarify his scenes. It’s obvious that the characters are questioning the meaning of life, and it’s pictured with confusing characters that appear and disappear without explanation. Rated R for sexuality, nudity and violence and worth 1½ stars.
