BACON, BACON, BACON... there it was at a morning networking meeting that I went to on Friday. And it was Free! I love bacon. I really do. And Free Bacon....WHOA BABY!
So there it was, piles and piles of bacon, along with eggs, muffins, sweetrolls, etc. I tried to justify it but the eggs were dripping with butter and the crispy...thick...wonderful smelling...bacon was just a no-no.
I felt like that dog in the commercial. "BACON, BACON, BACON", I kept saying to myself.
And like a Siren's song, those strips of crispy fried pork kept calling my name, "Milton, come on, just one slice. Remember how we were there for you for all those years. All those BLT's, All those Club Sandwiches. All those Bacon Cheeseburgers. Come just one more slice, for old time sake"
I'ms surprised no one else could hear them. But after drinking lots of water and trying to focus on anything else, the bacon went away and I felt better. I felt better because I had found the strength to avoid backtracking on all the progress I'd made. And that felt better than any bacon ever could!
Milt.
