Very soon, (probably this Thursday) many of you will know my secret shame. So I figured it would be best to just come out and admit it rather than have to suffer through embarrasing questions after Thursday's Show.
My secret shame...I can't dance. Nope, just can't do it. This was confirmed on Sunday afternoon when I tried to shake my hips at the Salsa class. I thought maybe this time would be different. Perhaps the Latin rhythms would overpower me and cause my booty to shake. Sadly, it was not to be.
I'm told I lost my sense of rhythm when I was young. I'm told that I contracted some terrible disease. I'm told that when the fever finally broke and I came out of my delirious state that everything seemed okay until I tried to clap in rhythm to "Baby Love" by the Diana Ross and the Supremes. The doctors knew immediately that something was wrong.
I tried therapy and classes but nothing seemed to work. So I resigned myself that I would have to live with this dysfunction. Yep, I'm the one at concerts people are pointing at and laughing. When everyone is zigging, I'm zagging! But don't pity me when you see me clapping out of time to some seemingly infectious groovin' tune. I've come to accept my situation. And I hope you'll just accept me as I am.
By the way, if you think a big guy can't move, you're wrong. You should have seen the undisputed King of Salsa, Sean. He had more moves than Shakira after four espressos. (Sadly, while accurate, this description has tarnished forever how I see Shakira). And his only competition was Heather and May who were both competing for Salsa Queen.
Heather was fun to watch. She would video us for three minutes, dance vigorously for three minutes, get us water for three minutes, and then repeat as necessary. She also did a great job teaching us and some online losers the basics of nutrition. This included teaching us some of the myths and pitfalls to look out for. She really knows her stuff and we're fortunate to have her help in all this. If you really want to see her get excited, ask her about the frozen dark chocolate chips.
Thats it for today. - Milt
