Okay, I love how each week there is a new challenge and another chance to learn a little more. Today, my hubby and i went to get some Asian food at Pei Wei... i think that is how to spell it. Before I left my house, i armed myself with the knowledge of CalorieKing.com, and decided what options i had for my calorie range. Because it is eating out, i figured that a few extra calories at lunch was fine as long as i adjusted the rest of my snacks. So i shoot for 400 ish calories per meal and figured that 600 would be an acceptable range for eating out (hopefully Heather will be approving of this.)
So I listened to what Heather said. Add a broth based soup... check! We shared a bowl of wanton soup, which was really just broth and one wanton, but the broth was fantastic! Next she she said to get a childs portion, or share, so we shared. An order of Pei Wei Spicy, which is like general tso chicken but it is not battered and fried. It does still have a sauce, but not overly saucy, but a nice mix of sweet and spicy. Calorie King said 1/2 dish of the chick was 330, and 1/2 dish of brown rice for 170 and a cup of soup 110. Okay so that is 610, but i took less than half the chicken, and I had no more that 3/4 cup of rice. We left with alot of rice still on the plate.
I left feeling completely satisfied...a little stuffed even. I realized that even though i ate way less than i normally would at Chinese food and i felt fine, when i stood up i was stuffed. I told him that maybe i should stand up sometimes when i am eating, because i didnt think that i would have been stuffed based on what i ate... i wonder how much less i could eat and still feel full once i stand up, even if i dont neccessarily feel full while i am still eating. I guess it will just be one meal at a time.
I feel good. Like i am less of a slave to food, and more of a slave to my body. I like that!
