Really? You people need to remember what I do for a living. I’m in sales!
What if I had said, “Hey, everyone, let’s have a picnic at Eisenhower Park. We can have healthy food and take a brisk walk along the beautiful wooded trail. However, I must tell you that there are several huge hills that we must go up and there is a chance that you will be attacked by a mountain lion.”?
How many people would have gone? NONE!!!!! I would have been alone, at the park, eating turkey burgers, dragged off by mountain lions and raised as one of their own until I’m discovered years later running around the park in my feral state. The press will label me “Mountain Boy” and I’ll be an ongoing exhibit with the circus.
IS THAT WHAT YOU WANT FOR ME?
Now you understand why I had to present the park the way that I did? Seriously, I’m sorry! I knew there were hills but I forgot that the first part of the walk was uphill. However, wasn’t the Hilltop View beautiful? Didn’t it make the return trip easier?
Let’s focus on the good stuff, shall we?
KUDOS go to (in no particular order):
Belinda – She arrived early and saved us a pavilion. Then she “pulled her liver” bending over to tie her shoe. This is a reminder, every year countless numbers of Americans are injured in shoe tying accidents each year. 10's of people each year suffer. Don’t be a victim! Laurie – Many people don’t know that Laurie had a chance to quit after about a mile. We were walking and talking for about a ½ mile when she said she wanted to sit down and rest. She encouraged me to continue walking. She could have easily turned back but she got up and finished all but a few yards of the walk. Hey, wait a minute! You don’t think she was just trying to get rid of me do you? Naw!
Simon – Thanks for manning the grill. Simon, if you do open up a restaurant, I’m there. I’ll have the Wallaburger and Joey Rings. Great Job on the burgers, zucchini, etc.
Gil – Thanks for starting the Four Square game. I haven’t played since high school and it was just as fun. Plus, it showed us Heather’s competitive side.
Sean – What a dude? He kicks butt in Four Square and then drags my butt the last mile of the course. I wanted to turn left and go back to the food but Sean convinced me, Earl, Mickey, and Andrea to continue and finish the last part of the course. Way to go man!
Mickey- Without Mickey there would have been no BBQ pit (and maybe no BBQ). Plus, she also encouraged me to continue walking. Thanks girl! She’s a pretty good motivator.
Earl – My Frisbee Golf partner. Earl is always an encourager. Actually, just by example he motivates me. Great Grilled Zucchini! And for Pete’s Sake, can someone get Earl a new shirt.
Michelle – Thanks for the deviled eggs and healthy potato salad. And What a trooper, even with your hands full with the two kiddos you plugged away. Way to go!
Andrea – Great job on the walk. You did terrific, too. And I think you were the only person that didn’t complain about the hills.
Heather – Finally, last but not least, Heather. Thanks for pushing the event. The beans were good. Your kids were delightful. And that soft blue warm-up hides a fierce Four Square competitor.
ps. Mey, we missed you!
