So today a large load has been lifted as I finally completed the Race for the Cure. This is a huge, sometimes exhausting, responsibility but one so very worth it. As most of you know I am the Team Captain (and darn proud) of Team HOLT CAT. The NUMBER 3 team in the city for fundraising with over $9,100.00 collected in contirbutions to find a cure! I feel like a proud mamma watching my baby walk into their first day of Kindergarten!
Every year, I get very emotional when I go to this event for many reasons. Most of you know that I have VERY personal reasons that this affects me but this year I was deeply touched. Not only because we had 52 TEAM MEMBERS, or raised over 9 grand, or being blown away by the personal contributions made by Peter and Julianna Holt and B.D. Holt, and of course Allyn Archer's contribution on behalf of HOLT CAT, but that I walked with so many other survivors in pink. To see almost 30,000 people of all colors, sizes, backgrounds come together for one common goal is the most undescribable emotional feeling. Imagine how life would be if everyone did that because it was Monday or Tuesday!
It was awesome to see Earl, Sean and his wife Melissa, Wallaby, Dawn, and Laurie and I couldn't have felt more proud that they joined our team to walk. We all got separated because of the vast amount of people but I litterally jogged back and forth to the ones I could find so I could spend time with everyone. I never got the chance to go find Leslie or Andrea as I ran ragged trying to get everyone together! I encourage everyone to take part in this walk! One year, I want to do Sleep in for the cure but now, everyone expects us to race! Next year, I am jogging it! Thanks again to everyone that joined Team HOLT CAT, donated or walked with us! I am so touched and forever grateful!
Love always,
Michelle
