With Matt Serra being forced to withdraw from the Ultimate Fighter Finale due to his injury, Georges "Rush" St. Pierre stepped up to fight Matt Hughes. The two will battle for the Interim World WelterWeight Championship. The winner of this fight will then face off next year against Matt Serra for the undisputed Title.

Georges St. Pierre and Matt Hughes have fought each other with Hughes winning the first fight back in 2004. The re-match evened out the score in which St. Pierre was victorious with a TKO to Hughes in 2006. December 29, 2007 will determine who will take the 170 pound title. Pierre has been anxiously awaiting the re-match against Matt Serra after a disappointing loss. Matt Serra on the other hand, wants Matt Hughes to win so they may finally settle their differences once and for all, in other words, Matt Serra wants Matt Hughes.
