We've been getting into a bit of debate in the sports office over which College Football poll we should recognize.
Should we recognize the AP poll because that's the one that's been around the longest? What about the problem that it doesn't mean much because it's no longer a part of the BCS formula?
Should we recognize the coaches poll? Not really, because who knows how the coaches are voting, or if the coaches are actually voting.
Should we recognize the computer or Harris polls? No, because how are these guys any better qualified to create a poll than I am?
And that's the thing. Nobody knows anything about college football. Instead of worrying about who's #1 or who should be in the top 25, we should just be enjoying the best college football season in recent memory. Appalachian State over Michigan, Colorado over Oklahoma, Stanford over USC, Kentucky over LSU, Oregon State over Cal, South Florida and Boston College starting the season unranked and ascending into the top 5.
While it does make for a lot of teams with mediocre records, it also makes for exciting games week in and week out. I was excited about 5 games today, which is more than I can say for just about every other week of college football I've watched.
So who's #1? Who cares? Let's just enjoy the best college football season in a long time.
