I'm just as tired of it as you are. Time Warner says this, the NFL Network says that. All parties want to give San Antonio access to the Cowboys games, yet it never seems to happen. Well it needs to happen. Because we stand to miss the NFC's equivalent of Patiots/Colts.
Ok, maybe it's not going to be the regular season game of the century like it will be when New England plays Indianapolis next Sunday, but it very well could determine homefield and the team to beat in the NFC.
The game: the Dallas Cowboys vs the Green Bay Packers on the Thursday after Thanksgiving. That's Thursday the 29th of November. Today is Wednesday the 24th of October. If, for the second year in a row, Time Warner and the NFL Network fail to get these games on the Time Warner cable system, everyone should just abandon Time Warner cable, and go with a cable system who's actually trying to negotiate.
It's not that it's solely Time Warner's fault. It's not that it's solely NFL Network's fault. But collectively, this very public sparring match reeks more of petulance than it does of an actual fight in the interest of consumers.
Why do you think the NFL puts Cowboys games (plural) on the NFL Network? The team has a huge national following, and the hope is that Time Warner (and the few other cable systems who haven't yet) will cave. Why won't Time Warner cave, or at least negotiate? I honestly can't answer you that question. They both seem to be getting nowhere. Which is why this needs to stop....now.
In a story we aired earlier this week, a spokesman for Time Warner answered a question about whether the situation could be resolved in the next 6 weeks, said, "We could reach a deal in the next six hours." Well then let's do it. Let's get it done. Because right now, both the NFL Network and Time Warner look like Dumb and Dumber.
