So, the Rockies fell in Game 2 of the World Series, falling behind in the series 2-0. And on all the talk shows tomorrow, you'll hear about how Colorado is done, they didn't belong in the first place, and the Red Sox will start the New England sweep of championships.
But before we talk about all that, let's realize that the Rockies haven't had a home game. Let's realize the Rockies offense still hasn't woken up. And finally, let's realize that the Rockies are probably just getting used to playing baseball again. They had 8 days off. Who among us doesn't remember coming back to work from an extended break and struggling a bit the first few days back. This is the same thing. Well, I guess not the same thing, because when we come back from work, a World Series isn't at stake. But, similar.
Let's see how the Red Sox adapt to losing David Ortiz, Kevin Youkils or Mike Lowell in Denver (remember there's no DH in National League Parks). Let's see how the Red Sox pitchers adjust to their breaking balls not breaking the way they do at sea level. And let's see how the Red Sox adjust to 5,260 feet of Rocky Mountain High Elevation (it's not altitude....altitude is an above-the-ground measurement).
Am I saying the Rockies are definitely going to win all the games in Denver, and then win the World Series? No. I'm not even saying that a sweep is out of the question. But, what I am saying is, regardless of what you'll hear tomorrow....It's not over.
