TV Talk

Come on people its 2008...Has Imus taught you nothing?

Anchor Kelly Tilghman, a former golf professional joked in a Golf Channel telecast of the Mercedes-Benz Championship with her co-anchor Nick Faldo that since Tiger Woods was so hard to beat his challengers might have to “lynch him in the back alley” to defeat him.

The Golf Channel issued a statement saying that they regretted Ms. Tilghman’s remarks, and they have decided to suspend her for two weeks saying, “While we believe that Kelly’s choice of words were inadvertent and that she did not intend them in an offensive manner, the words were hurtful and grossly inappropriate.”

Ms. Tilghman claims that, “I have known Tiger Woods for 12 years and I have apologized directly to him. I also apologize to our viewers who may have been offended by my comments.

Tiger Woods has said via his agent that he did not take offence to the remarks. So since he doesn’t mind should we?

Do you think that a two week suspension is punishment enough or should more action be taken against her for her remarks? Tell us what you think.

This kind of nonsense is just ridiculous.  A few years ago a friend sent me a picture of Tiger Woods that through some kind of demonic magic had transformed his bright white Colgate smile into a Nike symbol.  Are we supposed to follow Reverend Sharpton and assume that someone is just looking for a Nike in the Woodpile?

Kelly was making an innocent joke.  Tiger said as much.  Maybe he had some of that Tang, the astronauts drink, or maybe he just figured it was like singing while Iraq was still there during the national anthem.  Swear to God, they just sang that before the Republican debate tonight.

Gave proof through the night that Iraq was still there.
O say, does that star spangled banner yet wave
O’er the land of the free, and the home of the brave?

Only Al Sharpton (notice the lack of Rev. in here, because I am more so than he <and I really am>) could bring such a comment from a harmless joke to an all threatening, racist comment. Where is he for the latinos, asians, native americans, and anglos?

I wish all sports commentators, for that matter all commentators, would stop this stupid crap of trying to be "funny" while on air.  I guess they think this makes them more likeable to the viewer.  Just do your damn job as a sports analyst and leave the jokes to the comedians. I hate it when commentators make silly comments that are not funny one bit and in this case, this is exactly what Kelly was trying to do.  The comments were definitely in poor taste and she did aplogize to Tiger, he had no problem with her so it's case closed.  This idiot Al Sharpton always has to get in his 2 cents and get his face on TV.  He needs to mind his own damn business.  Like Slash said above, where is he for the latinos, asians, native americans and anglos?

Tiger took it with a grain of salt because he's married to an anglo woman. He, himself is half black. If I recall, I think The Dave Chapalle Show did a skid on how Tiger Woods was given away by the blacks, along with Condelezza Rice and Collin Powell. Ha ha ha.

Then you have Coconuts, dark skin Mexicans on the outside, but white on the inside.
You so called Mexicans, don't have what it takes to be real Raza.
